We're partnering with a school district in Jay County, Indiana to hire a dedicated Physical Therapist (PT) for the 2026-2027 school year.
In this role, you'll provide school-based physical therapy services to help students with mobility and motor needs safely access and participate in their educational environment.
Position Details:
Location: In-person
Schedule: Approximately 32 hours/week
Responsibilities:
- Conduct physical and functional evaluations to assess students' gross motor skills, strength, balance, coordination, posture, and mobility needs in the school setting
- Identify barriers impacting a student's ability to safely access the educational environment and participate in school routines
- Develop and support service plans aligned to student goals (IEP/504 as applicable), with measurable outcomes
- Provide direct therapy services to improve functional mobility, motor skills, and safe participation in school activities
- Teach safe mobility techniques (including use of assistive devices, transfers, and navigating stairs/hallways as needed)
- Recommend environmental modifications and adaptive equipment (as appropriate) to support access and independence
- Collaborate with educators, families, and multidisciplinary teams to support student progress and functional success at school
- Provide consultation and training to staff on positioning, handling, and mobility support strategies
- Maintain timely documentation, progress notes, and compliance records
Qualifications:
- Active Indiana Physical Therapist license (or ability to obtain/maintain licensure for IN)
- School-based and/or pediatric experience (preferred)
- Knowledge of school-based service delivery and collaboration within IEP teams (preferred)
- Strong communication skills and comfort partnering with school teams and families
- Ability to work on-site and maintain timely documentation/progress reporting
