We're partnering with a school district in DuPage County, Illinois to hire a dedicated Bilingual (Spanish) School Counselor for a maternity-leave coverage assignment. This is an on-site role supporting middle school (grades 6-8).
As a School Counselor, you'll support students' academic success and social-emotional development through individual/group counseling, collaboration with families and school teams, and proactive programming to promote a safe, supportive school environment.
Position Details:
- Location: On-site, DuPage County, IL
- Assignment Dates: August 11, 2026 - November 16, 2026
- Hours: 37.5 hours/week
- Grade Level: 6-8
- Estimated Caseload: ~190 students
- Position Type: Contract (temporary coverage)
Responsibilities:
- Provide individual and small-group counseling to support students' social-emotional, behavioral, and academic needs
- Support academic planning and student success strategies (organization, attendance support, goal setting, etc.)
- Collaborate with administrators, teachers, and support staff to develop and implement student support plans
- Partner with families/guardians to address student concerns and connect to appropriate resources
- Help facilitate conflict resolution and problem-solving strategies for students
- Support crisis response and provide appropriate referrals/follow-up when needed
- Maintain documentation and meet timelines in alignment with school and state expectations
Qualifications:
- Bilingual Spanish required
- Illinois School Counselor credential (active)
- Illinois PEL (Professional Educator License) (active) with School Counselor endorsement
- Experience supporting middle school students preferred
- Strong communication skills with students, families, and multidisciplinary school teams
- Ability to manage caseload priorities and maintain accurate documentation
